Well, it stopped raining long enough for us to have dry weather for the parade. It was cold. But, at least it was dry. We had a great turn out too!
Check out the pictures I took while we walked in the parade:

"Rain, rain, go away. Come again another day..." That's what we feel like singing today. It has been raining non-stop for the past two days as we prepare for the annual dog parade in Lafayette, Louisiana which is supposed to be tomorrow. If the rain continues tomorrow, then the parade will be postponed until Sunday. The Krewe des Cheins Dog Parade is a big event for all of the area non-profit animal rescue groups in and around Lafayette.
This year, our dog fosters will be dressed up as pirates. We've been working on converting our wagon into a treasure chest float for the parade.
Hopefully the rain stops and the weather warms up so we can have a dry and warm day for the parade tomorrow.
Around 10:35pm in Louisiana tonight, there was a strange sighting from our back yard. The trees blocked part of the light in the night sky. It appeared to be a sideways red crescent moon descending quickly in the night sky. The wind was eerily still. The animals were silent. There was an odd noise in the distance behind us, as we watched this sight before us. After what seemed like quite a while, the cats started coming out, the dogs started barking and whining, and we could hear dogs and coyotes in the distance. Eventually, the light disappeared completely out of sight. We searched the sky and saw the stars. But, the moon was no where to be seen. I also posted a video I took, which should appear soon in my livevideo site: http://www.livevideo.com/mycatranch
The construction on our hurricane safe cat shelter is moving along slow but steady now. We have three walls up, and the roof is being worked on today! To view the progress on our cat shelter, please check out our Cat Shelter Photo Set on Flickr. As of January 1, 2007, My Cat Ranch merged with Acadiana Humane Society making us an official 501c3 non-profit organization. This allows us to work together to save more homeless animals.
Our current goal is to raise funds for an official cat shelter, to house our rescue cats and kittens. We have currently raised over $6,500.00 towards this goal.
We are also working together with Lafayette Animal Aid , Wild Cat Foundation, and PAAW, to organize a spay/neuter clinic in Lafayette, LA during the month of March. We will be busy all month organizing, volunteering on the Rig, trapping & releasing ferals, etc. All while proceeding ahead as usual with our daily animal rescue and adoption work.
